Lydia turned three on Saturday. Doesn’t time fly?! It certainly doesn’t seem that long since I was announcing her arrival, looking all tiny & cute (although not too tiny – she came out looking three weeks old already!).

She had a very busy, very fun, birthday. We got up early and spent the day at Thomas Land at Drayton Manor – you can read about our day at the fab kiddie theme park here. Lydia wore a “I am 3 today!” badge that I made her, and displayed it prominently to all she met which meant she got lots of birthday wishes all day long – especially from the staff who were brilliant at noticing her birthday badge & made her feel very special!

Usually we stay until the park closes when we go to Thomas Land but we had places to go & people to see, so we left there mid afternoon and headed over to my grandparents, who live not far from the park.
Lydia and Georgie were both delighted to spend some time with their Great Grandma & Great Grandad. Lydia opened her first present of the day, both girls investigated the rocking chairs, and the adults enjoyed a coffee & a chat. It was lovely to see them, especially on their great granddaughter’s birthday!

We headed home in time for the girls to have a bit of a rest before Granny came over for dinner (birthday chinese!), which gave James and I a chance to sort things out – including fetching a pile of presents for the birthday girl. Georgie helped Lydia out with the present opening, by assisting her with important decisions like which present to open next, and also running back & forth to my bin with the rubbish – without even being asked! I definitely had a proud mummy moment.

After all the presents had been opened and the new Cinderella dress my parents gave her modelled for everyone, we settled down for some food and then it was time for birthday cake! I spent hours on the requested Princess Peach castle cake and it was definitely a success. It tastes good too, phew.

Some more investigation of the pile of new toys, and donning of new birthday PJs, and it was time to pack the girls off to bed. VERY late. The whole family had a very lazy Sunday morning!
